Autumn Picks: Makeup Edition

It's always nice to have a little post series in mind to do because it means you're not going to run out of ideas. Autumn is pretty much here so I think it is appropriate to commence an Autumn series which I have really wittily named 'Autumn Picks' - ahem. This post is going to be about some makeup items I think I will get great use out of this Autumn (or every Autumn for that matter).

Tom Ford Lipstick in Pink Dusk
This is my favourite nude lipstick because it leans a bit pink which suits my skin tone better than more orangey nudes. The formula of this lipstick is really creamy and amazing. It's basically just a perfect lipstick. I'm getting more into nude lipsticks at the moment which is why I think this will be a staple for me this Autumn when I can't be bothered with the upkeep of something darker or brighter.

MAC Lip Liner in Dervish
I went on a quest for the perfect lip liner for my natural lip color the other day and my friend helped me find this one. I've never heard anyone talk about this particular shade but it's actually a really good lip liner shade my natural lip shade as well as with Tom Ford's Pink Dusk.

MAC Eyeshadow in Woodwinked
This is such a beautiful eyeshadow, especially in the colder months because it's a really nice goldy brown colour which sometimes looks cool and in other lights it looks warm. I think this looks really nice all over the lid just by itself.

MAC Eyeshadow in Cranberry
I was obsessed with this eyeshadow over the Christmas period last year and I think it will be making a comeback in my life in a big way this Autumn/Winter. It is a pinky red so you might think you'll look like you've got some kind of eye infection when you wear this but if you use it just in the crease or just not all over the lid, it can look so pretty.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua
I love this foundation and I think it will be nice during the Autumn because it got a kind of satin finish which looks great with shimmery eyeshadows. Considering both of the above eyeshadows are shimmery, it is safe to say I will be continuing my love affair with shimmery eye shadows.

Rouge Dior Nude in Illusion
When I'm feeling a bit bolder I think I will be going for this beautiful lipstick that my boyfriend actually got for me in the Summer. It's a very blue toned red lipstick, which is my favourite kind of red because the orangey ones are pretty but they don't make your teeth look great. I just think wearing a big coat, a scarf and just red lips and mascara looks great.

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder in 01 Light
I'm loving subtle bronzers at the moment and this is my favourite. It's really soft, not overly pigmented (which I think is good in a bronzer) and I think it will just take the edge of my porcelain skin.

That's it! I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know what makeup bits you'll be getting a lot of use out of this Autumn.

  4. I really want to purchase MAC products but I never know what to get especially because It's expensive. What was the first MAC product you bought?

    1. WELL I'm probably not the best person to ask because my first buy wasn't the safest. I got the Nicki lipstick (the first one which is BRIGHT pink, basically neon). If you've never tried anything from them before I would say go for a lipstick or eyeshadow because they're pretty fail proof (especially if you go for a cremesheen or aplified creme finish, because they are probably the most popular and wearable). They do some nice blushes too.

  6. love all your picks! i've heard so many people mention this body shop bronzer and it sounds like a perfect option, especially for fair skinned girls during the cooler months :) do you use a powder to set your chanel foundation?

    1. I don't because I have pretty dry skin so I only really use a powder if I'm wearing a super dewy foundation or if it's hot. I will wear a powder if I'm going out at night though :)

  10. I really like the look of Woodwinked, Cranberry and Dervish. I like all of the swatches, what am saying? I've never been able to see what Woodwinked looks like until now. It's such a cute product name as well.

I am so happy autumn is settling in. It's just a lot easier to wear pretty products when your face isn't melting off.
