My Mini Must Haves

I feel like I have so many posts I want to write but finding any spare time as the moment is a tough. I'm actually off to Miami tomorrow (for Labor Day Weekend) + I'm hoping I will have enough time to do a couple posts there. Fingers crossed. Now, onto this post. Whenever I get samples that come in sachets I always manage to forget about them + they just sit in my sample jar for the longest period time. However, when samples come as minis of the actual product itself I am way more likely to use them. These are three mini products that I have been using everyday for the last week or so.

The first is the Origins GinZing Eye Cream, which I have been using every morning because it's extremely lightweight so it works well under concealer. I have actually liked everything I have ever tried from the brand so it doesn't really come as a surprise that I like this. It's a lightweight, pink, shimmery cream (sounds weird, I know) + it really brightens up the undereye area. I tend to apply a richer eye cream before I go to bed (at the moment it's the Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment) so I don't need anything too heavy during the day. I do actually like to use a tiny amount of this over my concealer too + just gently dab it on for even more brightness. This is a generously sized sample so although I won't be finishing this anytime soon I am already thinking this will have to be a purchase. However, if you're only going to have one eye cream I would definitely pick something more moisturising.

Next is the Benefit Watt's Up highlighter that I briefly thouched on in my last post. I never had any interest in trying this out for some reason but it's actually pretty perfect. This really is the perfect champagne toned highlighter. I love a cream highlighter for ease of application + because it blends in with the skin better + I also don't find this one to be overly shimmery. Again, this is a decent sized sample so I probably won't finish it too quickly but I'm thinking after I use this + my old Jemma Kidd highlighter up then this will be on my shopping list.

The last sample is an exciting one for me because I have nearly picked up the travel size of this on so many occasions (aka everytime I'm at Sephora). I'm talking about the pricey Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer, which I have unfortunately fallen in love with. I'm definitely a bit of a primer lover so I should've seen this coming. All I'm going to say is that it doesn't feel too siliconey, slippy or thick + it just makes you skin look + feel amazing. If you can get a sample of this, do it.

A Few August Favorites

I have been going through a weird no-makeup phase which has consisted of only wearing foundation, concealer + brows. I don't know why but I've particularly been enjoying having nothing on my eyes. I'm saving those products for another post, so here are my other favorites I have been enjoying when I feel like making more of an effort.

First off is the Maybelline Master Hi Lighting Blush in 10 Nude which is a great blush/highlighter in one. Even if I'm not wearing blush I like to use the lighter shades for a bit of a highlight on the high points of my face. Another highlighter that I got as a sample (I will also be doing a post on the millions of samples I got from Sephora, please bear with me) is the Benefit Watt's Up which I am absolutely loving. It reminds me of the discontinued Jemma Kidd Rose Gold cream highlighter from back in the day. I love cream highlighters because they look more natural + they are so quick + easy to apply.

Lipstick hasn't been on my radar recently so I've either been wearing the incredibly expensive Aesop Lip Balm because it does have SPF 30 in it + it smells amazing as well as being really moisturising or I've been opting for a lipgloss. My favorite lipgloss at the moment is the Soap & Glory Pillow Plump in Coy Toy because I'm not going to lie guys, I do want lip fillers + this does help make my lips look fuller even if it's just for a while. It's a neutral peachy shade too so it's very inoffensive + not too sticky.

Earlier in the month my nails got destroyed by Shellac (which is weird because I have never had a problem with gels from other brands) so I have been avoiding nail polish. However, I am currently wearing L'Oréal Paris Greycian Goddess which is a perfect grey shade for fall. I'm pretty much over summer makeup, nails + clothes now despite loving the warmer weather. I just want to be wearing sweaters + layers already.

The last product is L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara which has hands down been my favorite mascara since about May. I like a lot of volume + I like my mascara to be very, very black so this gets a massive thumbs up from me. I also find this to be great on the bottom lashes too... basically I can't fault this. I think this is probably my third tube of the stuff.

August Goals

I've seen a few posts like this before but I thought if I actually typed out my goals + posted it on the internetz then maybe I wouldn't forget them + I might accomplish something!

cook //
I am really lazy in the kitchen + that is probably a bit of an understatement. I eat cereal for breakfast, lunch + dinner on a regular basis. This is probably one of my main goals this month because I can go days without eating any vegetables, which is pretty gross really. I have cooked three times this month already + I'm rotating with my sister who will also be cooking so it's looking good so far! I'm not a bad cook either persay, I'm just really lazy in the kitchen + when I'm hungry I want my food now, like right now.

exercise //
I have a gym membership + the gym is in my building so really I have no excuse apart from sometimes I get home from work too late. I want to be going to the gym at least three times a week.

organise move //
As you may or may not know, I am moving to London next month which means I need to organise some stuff. But I need to actually do it rather than talk about it...

save money //
I expect I won't be working as soon as I move to London (+ I would like a week or so off to be honest) so I really need to save at least a little bit of money.

plan a trip //
As I am leaving the US soon, I would like to get my ass to a couple more states before that happens.

stress less + cheer tf up //
I am a serial worrier. I'm the kind of person if you don't text me back I think someone has spread a vicious rumor about me that has made you hate me or I think you've died. It's a very annoying trait + it makes me stress about stupid things so I am learning (slowly but surely) to chill tf out but I don't always manage. That's not really an August goal but a life goal.

make the most of New York //
This is my last full month in New York before I move so I really want to make the most of it. I absolutely adore this city so I shouldn't let any sad feels make me forget that!
