Review: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation

I tend to wear medium/full coverage foundation on a daily basis unless it's summer and I'm not wearing much makeup at all. I'm not ashamed to say this although I know the trend for tinted BB/CC creams and tinted moisturisers has being a little bit more popular recently. When I say I like a fuller coverage, I don't mean I like a thick layer of matte concrete on my face. I still like a dewy finish I just feel more comfortable knowing that anything I want covering will be covered with a layer of foundation. Anyway, I guess I should get on the foundation at hand...

I've been seeing a lot of reviews on the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation and as I don't own much Tarte makeup I was immediately intrigued. I got this foundation in a slightly darker shade than my natural skintone because I wanted to be able to use it in the warmer months and when I've got a bit of a (fake) tan situ going on. So the shade I've got is Fair-Light Honey which is perfect for when I have a mini tan (by my standards - we all know I'm basically albino). What I really love about this foundation is how natural it actually looks with just one layer on yet how good the coverage is. I tend to put one layer all over my face and then add a bit more of my cheeks and chin. My skin has been playing up big style so this skin has been crucial to making it look half decent/vaguely acceptable, along with a brick of concealer on hand at all times. Despite the high coverage however, it still looks natural and glowy and it still feels light. It has an SPF of 15 which is decent but I would still wear a higher SPF underneath in the warmer months. I also think the packaging is kind of adorable.

This gets a massive thumbs up from me and I really recommend you check it out. It retails at Sephora for $38.

  1. I keep seeing posts about this foundation and I've swatched it in the store a few times, but just can't seem to find a shade I'm happy with and willing to bank that much money on. I definitely want to give it a go though. Everyone says it's just lovely.

  2. Ahh I really want to try this! I'm totally with you on full coverage... I don't like to look caked in make up but that doesn't mean you can't don a full coverage foundation.. just gotta find the right one! xx
