Review: MAC Amber Lights


I wanted to get a couple of new eyeshadows from MAC to complete my second quad palette. I really love warm toned makeup, especially when it comes to eyeshadows because I feel like it really makes blue eyes stand out nicely. My theory is very much (on me!): cool toned hair & warm toned makeup. So when I saw Amber Lights in the MAC store I fell in love instantly and picked it up (along with Antiqued, which I have yet to try).

MAC describes Amber Lights as: Peachy-brown with shimmer (Frost)

I would describe this as an orangey bronze with shimmer because it definitely looks like a very warm toned bronze shade to me. I know a lot of people don't find these kinds of shades easy to wear but I actually find them the easiest to wear, especially with either liquid liner or just smudged brown liner. I'm not actually wearing any blush or bronzer in the above image, but I think when the skin is more warmed up and less Olaf from Frozen then it looks more wearable. Either way, I'm in love! I like to wear this kind of shade all over the lid and all around the eye with no other shade mixed in.

    Oh wow this looks so pretty on you, I hear this shade is in for spring I saw somewhere that mixing your bronzer with your highlighter can create a coppery colour but I no golds, are defo in I love this sort of shade with a think winged liner too looks pretty :) x

      I saw Tanya Burr do a tutorial and she put highlighter on top of bronzer for her eyeshadow :)

    Ooh this is a lovely colour - I think it's so beautiful that like you said it should be liquid liner and no other colour to detract from it! I find this type of shade really tricky to wear, which definitely doesn't stop me hoarding them!

      I always find if you add some liner then the shade isn't right next to your eye color so it's easier to pull off

      ohhh I don't have that one because we don't have it in the US but when I move back to England I will definitely pick it up because it is really pretty

    I'm not one to like golden tones for the eyes, unless it's an extravagant party, but you absolutely rock the colour. Suits your skintone so well!

    This looks beaut on you! I used to hate these shades on me but I'm coming round to them after I tried that coppery L'Oreal Infallible you sent me. When I'm blonde I will be allllllll over them
